Animal Assisted Therapy

The benefits of animals in promoting health and healing are fast becoming widely known.  A recent study conducted at UCLA Medical Center and published by the American Heart Association showed that visits by volunteer-dog teams had a measurable positive effect on the variables that characterize heart failure. Pet therapy has a very real role in helping more members of our society to live their lives in an inclusive fashion, to reach out to others, to educate our communities, while also helping to stem the ever-rising tide of human loneliness and social disconnectedness.

Butte Humane Society animals currently visit the following locations:

  • Amber Grove Place
  • Atria Paradise Assisted Living
  • Terraces Senior Living
